Abundance is a large oil painting of a May meadow landscape with fields and trees abundant wildflowers and swallows flying over them. This painting was inspired by the many walks I have taken around Kent and Sussex this spring especially in the Burwash area. It is semi abstract and slightly art nouveau with vibrant colours, multiple layers and sinuous sweeping shapes. I love how nature is so urgent in April and May and I tried to show this exuberance. It makes me very happy when the swallows return and begin swooping around over the fields and It fascinates me how the appearance of the first daffodils, then bluebells then daisies, foxgloves, cow parsley, etc. all follow each-other in such a small space of time. I wish it lasted longer and I tried to capture this transition by hinting at all sorts of wildflowers springing up together and overlapping each-other slightly. This is not an actual place but is a ‘memory impression’ of one that gives me an echo of it when remember it. Dedicated to everyone who is helping to maintain the nature and wildlife of England and to all my fellow walkers. The size is 36x48 x1.5 inches on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed.
