This is an original oil painting on oil painting paper by South Australian artist Scott Maxwell.
This is a new process I've been developing recently, it's quite different to my other techniques. It includes some elements from the minimalist genre combined with varying thicknesses of paint and texture along with various shades of colour toned horizontal bands. Some of the paint is scraped back or thinly glazed to reveal some of the layers and white surface beneath.
Life is thought of as linear, a start and an end, but the lives we lead between those ends builds in layers, one on top of the others. They aren't always neat and tidy sometimes there are heavy layers on top of thinner ones. Some of the time they merge together in parts, they mix and overlay combining or separating in very individual ways for all of us. I find this is a very interesting process and an interesting outcome.
This piece is painted on high quality paper specifically for oil paint. It's archival, acid free & very tough. It can be easily mounted & hanged or framed.
*I am currently working on an option to sell these pieces fixed to a panel then fixed in a floating frame, they would be ready to hang. The price would have to be adjusted for this option. When i have one ready to show i will update this post to show the finished framed work. Let me know if you are interested I can provide more pics and info.
