This is the fourth of my Jonathan Livingston paintings, (Jonathan Livingston Seagull is my all time favourite book), and for this one the initial painting is in watercolours.
Each of the birds has been cut from the painting and decoratively arranged in a graduating colour square in the centre of the frame.
They are attached to heavy watercolour paper with tiny foam board plinths, and framed within a white glazed deep box frame.
The result is a graduated blue, green, aqua, yellow, copper, gold and white modern relief design revealing individual seagulls on closer inspection, with different shadows cast depending on the direction of the light.
