This is an illustration inspired by the legend of Abhartach. The story is based on a legend from Irish folklore of an evil cheiftain dwarf that terrorised his subjects in the lands of what we know today as Derry (or Londonderry) in both life and death, until a local hero was advised to bury the chieftain upside down and cover his burial with a large boulder and sprinkle the site with ash and thorns.
This is an original illustration executed in a mixture of both inks and traditional acrylic on 140lb watercolour paper. It comes with a signed certificate of authenticity, and is presently unframed.
