Abeyance Series.
- to be in a temporary state of suspension.
This series is inspired by my lust to capture the awe-inspiring beauty and depth of everyday wonders. These include the beating of hearts, the great abysses of the world, and the phenomenons of space. After devoting countless waking second to understanding the underlying principles of fluid mechanics and the art of distress, I plunged myself into an an art form that has challenged and changed my perception of form and structure throughout. What once used to be a inspired by the beauty of simplicity has now been taken over by utter complexity.
My work exemplifies the struggles of life and the fluidity of this process: the fight between the light and dark, the bright and dim, or color and negative space. Nothing is ever only one sided. Each force, whether it be a pull or a push, will always have an equal and opposing reaction. This basic rule of physics is often forgotten, for in many instances, these forces seem to immerse us within them and rid our minds of any possible alternatives. I seek to challenge this behavior by implicating the complexities of chemical reactions and physical forces with the wonders of art and fluid dynamics. Each painting is mixed with selected pigments which may have iridescent properties, matte finishes, or in some cases glow in the dark attributes. Ultimately creating an image that one may both get lost in by shear complexity, but also use to connect to ones own personal interpretation. These interpretations are often linked to life events, and similarly inspire the paintings shear eye capturing characteristics. All the while they do not feel foreign. They seem to be our close friends, or in some instances even our own family. Family which we love to share our time with. Family which we love to get lost with on life's endless adventures.
This painting has muptile coats of varnish and has over 20 different shades of color used throughout. There are multiple shades of both matte black, midnight black, as well as irredecent black on the outer edges of this painting, giving a seemingly endless void appearance. These dark tones mix with the copper and flame tones present and visually stand out during different times of the day and varying view angles. The perspective should be left to the collector in order to incite a deep spiritual connection with the piece.
