Military service in World War One shredded the nerves of the highly sensitive genius Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938). Suffering mental collapse and addicted to alcohol and morphine, he was admitted to a sanatorium in Davos, Switzerland. Following a long recovery he settled in the Swiss mountains for the remaining twenty years of his life. This print is extracted from a drawing he made of the view from his home there, during a time of peace.
technical note
This print is pulled from a relief plate cut from rubber, a variation of letterpress. The completed edition made 5 copies. The print is on a sheet measuring 11x13 inches (280x330mm). I can trim the sheet to 8x10 inches, or 10x12 inches or leave it untrimmed, as you wish. I will message for your preference before dispatch.
