The more I paint these hugely detailed paintings, full of colour and pattern from edge to edge, the more I feel the need to start with an incredibly smooth surface - and I have used an Ampersand panel for this one, which has been a truly beautiful surface on which to work.
At 8 inches (20cm) square, it is rich in colour, detail and pattern and the natural wooden edges of the work are a great contrast to the painting itself.
I think that this picture will look wonderful as it is, displayed on a wall without the need of framing or embellishment, but that is up to you, of course.
A totally one-off original piece of art for your wall - signed on the back and varnished.
