Words and memories of midsummer in Wiltshire walking the Deverill valley. A quiet and peaceful agricultural landscape.
Original impressionist watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425 gsm 200lb. I used yellow ochre for the first back wash of colour and then used my bushy Chinese brush in a spiral technique for the ancient oak tree line. I created a baseline under the trees. I used a three colour technique with Windsor and Newton watercolours. For the detail of the poppies and grasses I gently pressed the crimson red mixed with yellow ochre onto the damp paper. Dragged the paint for the grasses and etched out the paint with my nail.
