During a recent visit to the English Lake District I went to Allan Bank, the home of the famous English Poet William Wordsworth. This beautiful old house had unfortunately been badly damaged by a fire several years ago. The current owners of the house, the National Trust, made the decision not to repair all of the damage to the house, and so when you walk around the property many of the rooms still show evidence of the fire. Visitors are able to use the rooms in the house to relax, read books, paint pictures, or just enjoy the spectacular views over Grasmere from the large sash windows. This elderly couple were sat at one of these windows completely engrossed in their books. I managed to get some photos and sketches of them without disturbing their reading.
