This painting is part of my Life Shift series. This series came about when we made the decision to pick up and move across the country from one coast to the other. Throwing caution to the wind and embracing the unknown, we embarked on a weeklong road trip through mountains, fields, forests and oceans. Our decision prompted so many feelings, discussions and expectations about what we ultimately seek for our life together.

Inspired by life events, my memories and the dialogue in my head, my work combines a tension of gestural mark making and consciously executed elements with layer upon layer of colour - thin washes, thick strokes, scraping and glazing. There is a definite chaos as each work evolves until eventually a visual order seems to emerge.

This painting was created in several layers using professional materials. The sides are painted grey and does not require any additional framing. Ready to hang with wire and d-rings. The painting was varnished with a satin varnish for protection.
