Mark Croucher is an artist living in the North east of England.
This little urban cameo is a scene all too frequent in our towns and cities, an old man in worn out clothing taking shelter in a doorway.
Closer observation perhaps offers a different interpretation. He has no plastic bags stuffed with his belongings instead he has a cloth rucksack filled with solid objects perhaps tools.
His large hands have clearly seen years of hard work , no begging empty coffee cup at his feet or scribbled sign describing his circumstances. The only comfort he seeks is a quiet spot to rest in the warmth of the morning sun.
