This piece came from a conversation with a friend about one of her childhood fears - that men would come and take her away.
She meant society would take her away to an institution once they found out what was going on in her head.
It sparked a childhood memory in me, when I was a child, an adult told me that there was a special place in the hills where children were taken to for laughing at nothing! Initially I was a bit frightened, but as time went on, I thought that this place sounded really nice and good place to go to!
I wanted to get across a child-like viewpoint in the imagery, the men with butterfly nets, swooping almost ghost-like, the angry looking house and ambulance with bars.
Initially I made an monoprint, after many friends saw it, they encouraged me to do it as a limited digital print.
This particular print version is an artist proof, A/P, printed on heavy off white paper.
The others will be printed on archival photo paper.
