Original artwork description:

This unfinished piece has been hanging around my "Atelier" for weeks... I felt suddenly compelled to address it, finish it, while leaving it decidedly " Unfinished", for a change..,.. I encountered an old colleague this morning; someone who was my boss at the last "Day Job" I had, before taking the plunge to try making it with my Art... ( Almost 30 years ago; gasp!) We caught up, filled in gaps, and laughed over some memories... For some reason, that meeting inspired me to finish- to the degree I have here- this piece... Originally based on a painting by Modigliani, ultimately this piece is speaking about pausing to take in the profound changes in life that have and will soon be occurring for me... I am blessed to have a full life as a painter, a Mom a "Mimi", and a daughter.... But the challenges of being pulled simultaneously in several directions, a sense of not having enough time to bask in every wonderful aspect of my circumstances, is reflected here... ( Even if it is evident to nobody but myself.) Modigliani lived a fast, hard life, and died before he had gifted the World all he had to give, artistically speaking.... But I will endeavor to slow down, not only to "Smell the Roses", but to pick some more regularly, and put them in jars... (This canvas is painted around the edges, so can be hung, unframed...)
