Original artwork description:

I wanted to capture the romantic atmosphere of Paris at dusk, which inspired A Parisian Corner at Dusk. The Eiffel Tower rises softly in the misty distance, like a silent witness to the city’s quiet beauty. The wet cobblestone street reflects the warm glow of the café lights, and I used a contrast of cool and warm tones—blues and grays in the background against the golden reds of the café—to evoke both warmth and solitude.

The composition plays with emotional contrast: the lone figure walking away under an umbrella suggests introspection, while the group in the foreground immersed in conversation speaks to the city’s lively soul. I used impasto techniques to bring texture to the reflections and employed quick, expressive brushstrokes to convey the rainy atmosphere. My goal was to make viewers feel as if they were there—hearing the soft footsteps on wet pavement and feeling the warm buzz of the café.
