This work was commissioned by a client who wanted to have a replica of two candlesticks in the Empire style. “He gave me for reference just a few low resolution photos showing only the basic outlines and the proportions between the separate elements, but hardly any fine details. I had to recreate every detail anew, following the characteristics of the style, of course”, says the sculptor, Krasimir Krastev.

Originally, the client wanted a set of two candlesticks. “For this reason I decided to “scandalize” the classical style and make the second figure a mirror image of the first”, he adds. As a result, the piece achieves a kaleidoscope effect and is in itself something that has been created for the first time.
In this way the work gets a contemporary touch and a brand new artwork comes to life, inspired by the Empire style.

The materials used for the candlesticks are bronze, gilding, black marble. The sculpture is suitable for both classical interiors and contemporary ones, as an accentuating detail.
