Original artwork description:

The New Colony is an original watercolor by Jason E Doucette. This watercolor is 12 x 18 and is unframed and unmounted. It shows a scene from northern Saskatchewan that I photographed at a nesting site where hundreds of cormorants along with White American Pelicans were nesting. I added in a white feather at the bottom of the painting to symbolize the multi species nature of the site. The hatch lings while present at the site were not exactly as the painting shows and so I added them in to the painting.
This painting is 0% watercolor and finished with additional details using Polychromos coloured pencils.

Materials used:

Arches watercolor paper, artist WN paints, Polychromos pencils
