Original artwork description:

A LOVE SO DEEP THE OCEAN WOULD BE JEALOUS
150 (h) x 120 (w) x 4 cm / 59,1 (h) x 47,2 (w) x 1,6 in
acrylic and oil on canvas
2019

Inspired by the sea view from the Oceanside Pier in San Diego, Southern California, face to face with dolphins and pelicans. The Pacific Ocean shines resplendent in the setting sun. Salty air and the deep blue water as soft as velvet. Boundless potency and force of nature with every heartbeat. A deceptive idyll. The sea can be everything, storm and doldrums, beauty and beast, sleeping giant and siren...

You smile. As you always do. You look like an angel in the fading light. Ocean winds from the South pet your hair. A perfect muse to the painter. Life imitates art, sometimes. For a little while. But not today. No candle in your window. Your beauty will not lead us back to light. The dark before the dawn is my companion. Far away from your specious and dying sun. Where no beam of light warms the sea. Do you remember this place? Do you remember the beginning? A love so deep the ocean would be jealous. This is what we came for. Deeper than the sea. Freediving to the deepest ocean bed. Back to the surface, head above the stormy water. Do you still remember? A love so deep the ocean would be jealous. Behind the horizon, beyond the sea, maybe. A love so high the mountains would fall silent. Under an undiscovered star, in a different universe, maybe. Life imitates art. Sometimes. Life imitates poetry. Sometimes. And sometimes not.

This piece is a true LARGE-SIZED PAINTING. For a large-scale, aesthetic and colourful impression on your wall AND as my authentic and personal artwork with an artistic subsurface message. This painting is for sale as solitaire or as a part of the statement-piece quadriptych DEEP BLUE DAYS DOWN BY THE SEA.

I use exclusively oil and acrylic colors, canvas and solid wooden frames in a professional museum quality. The painting wears my signature on the front and is signed, entitled and dated on the backside. Deliberately the XL-sides/edges (about 4 cm / 1,6 in wide) are not part of the painting and show the black painted canvas (beautiful contrast). The painting is ready to hang (on the backside: high-quality iron plates with metal inserts and nylon rope for gallery use), unframed and doesn’t need a frame or any additional surface treatment. The piece will be safely shipped in a custom wooden crate. It will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a cover letter as an additional part of the artwork.

Please note: In context pictures are not necessarily to scale and are for illustrative purposes only. If you have any questions about this painting or any other piece, feel free to contact me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks so much for taking an interest in my work.

Warm wishes,
Christian
