This print is of Owlers Wood in Slaithwaite, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. I can see this wood from my house and it’s within walking distance of my studio. It’s a tiny little wood perched on the side of the glorious Colne Valley. This vibrant print captures the magic of an autumn day.
This image started life as a digital photograph (I love taking photos and capturing places and scenes that inspire me). Through a combination of hard work, trickery and expertise I transform my photographs into screen printable artwork.
I print all my screen prints by hand, with a lot of care and attention, at West Yorkshire Print Workshop.
For this print I was commended in the 2012 Flourish Award for Excellence in Printmaking. It was also shortlisted for the Neo:PrintPrize.
Colours: Dark brown, light brown, pale blue, vibrant orange
