A sitting with a golden Gower Cow, while standing.

I was walking along the coastline when I noticed this "family" of cows sitting together by the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea, I had this whimsical thought about them sitting for a family portrait in a photographer's studio under the lights and muted backgrounds. An idea was born. I have painted a series on this theme.


This is another in the Studio Cow "sittings" series hence the whimsical title. This cow was by the edge of a cliff, cooling herself on the sea breeze. Transported to the "studio" she looks very studied, almost Victorian in her bearing. I have long loved painting Cows, they are excellent subjects to paint and some of my favourite animals

The portraits show the nobility of these animals, their size contrast with gentility. These paintings show each Cow's personality and individuality. Their uniqueness to be cherished.
