This lino print was created for the TRIOS 2017 touring exhibition, the brainchild of artist Jo Mortimer - a game of chinese whispers between photographers, poets and artists. This piece was inspired by the poem 'Wings Flap on Water' by Gram Joel Davies, which was written in response to a work by photographer Martin Passow. The pier is loosely based on old postcards of Morecombe's late 19th century West End Pier
This work is printed on sheets of very fine gampi tissue so that one side can be reversed to produce a true mirror of the other (it would be near impossible to carve!). These are assembled on various support papers to give the illusion of the pier floating over the sea, like a butterfly.
Please note copyright remains with the artist, Alison Deegan 2017
hand carved lino, oil based ink, fine gampi tissue
