I am finding that my new, totally abstract, paintings are just so freeing - and the lively textures and juxtaposition of colours is so thrilling to explore. I'm intrigued as to how some parts of the painting just come together, and others take a while to become coherent. I love the tussle and only leave a painting alone when I know that it works as a standalone piece - like this one; the reds, pinks and oranges are offset by the little slices of blue, which give a feeling of distance and "looking beyond".

This piece is mainly in acrylics and also has some water soluble wax pastels incorporated into the work.
