Two years ago, I was graduated from the Ilya Repin Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. Within the walls of the Academy, as well as in the broad academic community, still lifes normally imitate the works of old masters, which means they are assembled from various old objects, plaster moulds and draperies. Currently, I am working at home, so thinking about a new still life staging, I tried to move away from the academic tradition as much as possible. At the same time, while working on the staging of this still life, I looked through many of Dutch still lifes. With these products from the supermarket, I wanted to achieve the same compositional harmony and expressiveness as the old Dutch masters.
