My family is actually full of artists and writers (all on the female side) and one thing we all share in common is being night owls. Try as I might to be a lark, I find the stillness of the night truly inspirational. This painting was birthed at 1 a.m. after days of struggling with it. The magenta and deep blues began to emerge from pale lilacs and Naples yellow.
