OBLIVIUM – The Aesthetics of Dissolution
Oblivium is an artistic investigation into the ephemeral nature of perception, where form is sublimated into pure essence. Previewed at the Affordable Art Fair Milan 2020, the project erases the boundaries between reality and abstraction, reducing the landscape to a primordial horizon—an obsessive sign, endlessly reconfigured.
Rooted in a deep reverence for nature, Oblivium captures the tension between beauty and fragility, presence and disappearance. Through long exposures and layered compositions, the elements—sea, sky, and sand—dissolve into a dreamlike space, where time is suspended, and reality becomes fluid.
The work moves beyond figurative photography, embracing a radical subjectivism that echoes the avant-garde’s pursuit of transcendence. In this vision, nature ceases to be represented; instead, it reveals itself in its most essential, almost metaphysical form.
π-K9 unfolds as a study of spatial ambiguity and elemental fusion. A vast horizon stretches across the composition, yet its stability is unsettled by the intrusion of an oblique plane, slicing through the lower portion of the frame. This diagonal form—fluid yet imposing—complicates the reading of space, shifting the balance between solidity and dissolution.
The chromatic palette is ethereal and subdued, composed of desaturated whites, misty greys, and deep, inky blues. These tones merge seamlessly, evoking the soft erosion of matter by time and movement. The long exposure technique lends a painterly fluidity to the image, where sea, sand, and sky are no longer distinct but part of a continuous visual meditation.
Here, the natural order of the landscape is inverted. The horizon, usually a point of separation, becomes instead a moment of transition, where surfaces blend into one another. The sloping plane distorts perception, as if the image itself is caught between emergence and dissolution. π-K9 resists definition, pulling the viewer into a state of suspended perception, where space is no longer fixed but in perpetual transformation.
