OBLIVIUM – The Aesthetics of Dissolution
Oblivium is an artistic investigation into the ephemeral nature of perception, where form is sublimated into pure essence. Previewed at the Affordable Art Fair Milan 2020, the project erases the boundaries between reality and abstraction, reducing the landscape to a primordial horizon—an obsessive sign, endlessly reconfigured.
Rooted in a deep reverence for nature, Oblivium captures the tension between beauty and fragility, presence and disappearance. Through long exposures and layered compositions, the elements—sea, sky, and sand—dissolve into a dreamlike space, where time is suspended, and reality becomes fluid.
The work moves beyond figurative photography, embracing a radical subjectivism that echoes the avant-garde’s pursuit of transcendence. In this vision, nature ceases to be represented; instead, it reveals itself in its most essential, almost metaphysical form.
π-K14
Within this conceptual framework, π-K14 stands as a refined expression of Oblivium’s aesthetic principles. The composition is defined by a delicate balance of horizontal and diagonal planes, creating a subtle yet dynamic tension. The horizon—both literal and symbolic—remains the anchoring element, while geometric overlays fragment the scene, evoking the instability of memory and perception.
The chromatic palette is composed of desaturated, almost ethereal tones, where soft gradients of grey, pale blues, and muted greens blend seamlessly. These colors evoke a sense of vastness and introspection, enhancing the impression of a world in transition—between solidity and dissolution, presence and absence. The restrained use of contrast reinforces the image’s meditative quality, allowing light and shadow to merge in a continuous visual flow.
In π-K14, the sea is no longer a defined space but a sensation, a mirage that resists fixation. The layering of forms suggests a quiet fragmentation, a reality slipping away—a poetic metaphor for the fragile balance between nature and human intervention. The work does not merely depict; it unveils, inviting the viewer into a liminal space where perception itself is questioned.
