This straw "bale" strewn field is in Scurlage, Gower, Wales.
I just loved the golden colour of the field and the subtle colours embedded in the rolled straw.
It made a nice contrast to the English landscapes of the Cotswolds which I have been painting recently, most notably in "The Wheatfield", which have a more sharp clear blue light compared to the warmer, yellowy more diffuse light of Gower and South West Wales.
First in a series of three paintings, the Scurlage Triptych.
