Our community of artists is the core foundation of Artfinder. With such a vast community based in all corners of the world, we wanted to help them share more about their artist journey, their artistic process and technique and what inspires them. Today, we chat with one of our amazing painters, Hazel Thomson.
Can you introduce yourself, where you are from and how long you have been with Artfinder for?
My name is Hazel Thomson, and I am from Cheshire and I have been with Artfinder since 2017.
How would you describe your work?
Contemporary, large landscapes, featuring trees in all seasons.
What influences you and your work?
Trees and Nature are what inspires me.
What does your creative process involve?
Walks through nature, meditation, self belief and then turning up at my studio every day and paint what I feel passionate about.
Have you changed as an artist overtime?
Yes, I have evolved into my own style of painting over the years.
What’s your favourite artwork you created and why?
An Oak Of All Seasons. This painting was completed in public, over a period of 6 weeks. I have good memories of the many conversations I had with the general public whilst painting this tree.
What do you think is the role of art/artists in society?
Me personally, to highlight the beauty in trees and how they help the climate and how important nature is to everyone’s well being.
What advice do you have for emerging artists looking to make a living out of their art career?
Be true to yourself and paint what you love.
