“I was inspired to paint this simply out of love for the Fab ice lolly. They remind me of childhood summers, but since I started creating paintings inspired by food I appreciated how well designed Fab lollies are too. I brought a canvas that mimicked the shape of the lolly and broke it up into three blocks - strawberry, vanilla, and the chocolate section covered in ‘hundreds and thousands’. I feel that even if you don't know what a Fab lolly is you could still appreciate the painting as a work of abstract design, but if you do then it becomes more of an art object than a simple representative painting, as the design continues around the edge.”
