About Yoshiko Murdick

  • Biography

Began as a professional oil painter in Kobe, Japan. Later earned an undergraduate degree in art in the U.S. Have been painting in watercolor for 20 years and have earned numerous awards and prizes in the U.S. Signature memberships include Tallahassee Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor society, and  Southern Watercolor Society.

As for my personal approach and style, for me light is everything in watercolor.  Look for strong coloration, exaggerating the effect of light on natural colors in nature. I also do abstracts depicting the evolution of the universe and pictures depicting people who interest me, such as New Orleans jazz musicians and Central American musicians and market vendors.

If people feel good remembering some place or having a warm feeling from my painting, that's all what I want.
