About Vítor Pisco

  • Biography
Vítor Pisco is a contemporary visual artist whose interest goes in particular to the surrealist and expressionist currents, his favorites being Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. In the following paragraphs, some information about his bibliography and his journey in this area follows: He was born in Santiago Maior, in the municipality of Alandroal, in 1972. In the early years of his childhood, he was enthusiastic about the art of drawing and painting. Later, at the secondary school of Reguengos de Monsaraz, where he completed the 9th year, he participated several times, at the invitation of his drawing teacher, in creating some advertising posters. After completing his studies at the aforementioned educational establishment, he did a small experiment of craft painting in one of the potteries in São Pedro do Corval, which reinforced his taste for traditional Alentejo painting. In the summer of 2003, he attended classes at Professor Camol D'Évora's studio, where he acquired new knowledge. He graduated in 2015 in Information Sciences at Universidade Aberta, where the discipline of Animations and artistic expressions reinforces his conviction of the importance of art in the development and formation of the individual and although he has always been drawing and painting in his free time, after a period of break he decides to return to be exhibited in 2016. We can see here on display and for sale, acrylic paintings on canvas personalized with personal traits with a strength that only great artists can achieve, the result of an apprenticeship that the author developed over decades as a self-taught painting. From 2023 onwards, the lines of his works reveal more maturity and a clearly defined line towards a more abstract style with firm, vigorous, gestural and expressive brushstrokes. His works are also a reflection of his state of mind, emotions, memories, experiences, research and reflections.
