About Veronique Oodian

  • Biography
My work is always linked to an aspect of nature, whether it is the depiction of a beautiful flower and the joy I get from it, or how we relate to nature as being part of it in life and death as organic and spiritual beings. Nature's often unusual beauty is what inspires me. I try to capture a feeling from when I first encounter a flower, bird or insect. I am inspired by the true joy generated from such an experience and my work explores this beauty through colour and form.

My main choice of medium is oils, although I do explore other media from time to time. Working with oils enables me to truly express myself, as it allows for manipulation through blending and smoothing. Layers of paint can be applied to build up tone and glazing techniques result in luminosity and vibrancy.

My most recent work is an exploration of mark making, colour and form with a less realistic approach, which will feature soon in my shop.
