About Valentina Porcelli

  • Biography
Valentina Porcelli is an Italian artist who graduated in painting with honours from the marks at the Academy of Fine Arts in Foggia. She began her artistic career as a child, showing a keen interest in portraiture. Strongly attracted by traditional European painting and photography, she turned her studies in depth to the oil technique. Her theatrical experience contributed to her knowledge of the expressiveness of the body and its language, leaving the gesture and pose a strong emotional charge. In 2016, the artist synthesised her knowledge into a style somewhere between realism and illustration, achieving metaphysical overtones through monochrome backgrounds. In October of the same year, he took part in the Salerno Youth Biennial and won the first painting prize and from there the first publication of the important national art magazine Frattura Scomposta Contemporary magazine and other collaborations and exhibition experiences. From the beginning of his career, he has used female subjects, the which were initially immersed in a blue monochrome background. Since 2018, the artist has felt the need to move away from the initial background, delimiting the blue within a circle. The latter, together with the protagonists, becomes the focal point of the composition, transforming itself into a symbol. The paintings offer the viewer an intimate moment with their subjects. Most of the women in her paintings look into the eyes of the viewer, creating an understanding. Since the end of 2019, his painting has evolved again through the use of gold and the addition of other components in the pictorial composition: birds and plants. The artist currently lives and works in Parma. Poetics Porcelli is a figurative artist oriented towards a style somewhere between realism and metaphysics. The models she uses, real women, in most of her paintings look at the observer: creating an understanding and a dialogue with the audience. His current painting oil painting combines the gilding technique with the addition of other components in the composition: birds and plants. These works represent the encounter between manenature, in this case 'woman' and nature. They arise from the artist's need to want to bring order to something that has now been lost, a symbolic and metaphorical union between the human being and Mother Earth.
