About Una Hurst

  • Biography
I like to paint animals and birds,  specialising in wildlife of the South Atlantic, particularly the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. I have designed and painted nearly fifty postage stamps depicting wildlife for that part of the world. The need for accuracy and detail in that work has forced my style  to get as much fine detail as possible in all paintings, even with oils.  Mostly I paint birds and wildlife, also farm livestock, particularly the different breeds of  British and European cattle and sheep plus I paint many horse and dog commissions, mainly in oils but do some watercolour work as well. I have been particularly inspired by and admire the work of Roger McPhail, Keith Shackleton, Keith Brockie and Raymond Harris-Ching.
