About Charlotte Cala
Biography
Welcome to Trixie Art By Charlotte Cala.
I am an internationally selling visual artist who has always had a passion for art.
Trixie Art was born from a determination to re-discover a love of art and re-claim the dreams, of a once hopeful child. Trixie Art is in dedication to my late mother (Trixie) who, nurtured my creative ambitions, alongside my father.
My ApproachI am inspired by water and those that swim in it. I specialise in acrylic paint to create seascapes and underwater portraits. My work explores the contrasting strength and power or water vs. the calm serenity of its nature. I enjoy the technical challenge or capturing its translucency and movement and I am particularly interested in how light and water refracts the human form into abstract shapes.
I believe that water and creativity are completely interconnected; they are found everywhere. They keep us alive, they come in many forms, they have an infinite variety of expression and the very strength of them can alter the landscape. Water and creativity are both instigators of change.
Change has been a current focus in my life; through the vessel of water, swimming and creativity.
I am a keen swimmer, both pool and open water. I draw on my own experiences of swimming and fellow swimmers to tell the story of water and those that swim in it.
