About Trixie Pitts

  • Biography
I am a Canadian American painter currently based in Nashville after living and painting in NYC for many years. I honed my craft in New York at the Art Students League with the well-known painter Larry Poons as my advisor for ten years. As well as a life member of the ASLNY, I am also a member of the National Association of Women Artists, and various other artists’ organizations. I have participated in many group exhibitions nationally as well as being the focus of many solo exhibitions in New York City. My paintings evolve from within and have a strong emphasis on gestural painting and the sensuous nature of paint and color. I rarely set out to paint anything specific. Painting on big canvases is what I love so I can move with the paint, and I never paint without listening to music. I can’t imagine painting sitting down! And yet, recently I have started to create digital artwork on my iPad. Basically, I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have my painting to do and then to sell! I have been selling online for many years. Currently most of my sales come from SaatchiArt and Singulart, and I sell my older and possibly slightly less impressive paintings for a lower price on Chairish. I have also had a few sales through Instagram, where I have built a loyal following. I would really like to have a shop on Artfinder because it is such a respected outlet for selling. I believe not having Artfinder in my arsenal is a definite weakness in my overall marketing strategy. I am totally commited to painting and selling my work and would not have a problem keeping my Artfinder shop up to date. I would also like to participate in the option of having artworks up for a sale. Bottom line is that I know I would be an asset to Artfinder and I look forward to uploading my paintings.
