Originally from Switzerland, Gabriel Böhmer is a UK based artist and filmmaker interested in memory, and dreams. His practice draws on fleeting thoughts to build a narrative of the subconscious. Using minimal imagery and poetry his work is often humorous, sometimes tragic, and always approaching the absurd.

His pieces draw on fleeting thoughts to build a narrative of the subconscious. Using minimal imagery and writing his work is often humorous, sometimes tragic, and always approaching the absurd.
‘In A Room’ explores a set of rotating characters in unusual situations. The collection playfully jumps between existential questions, and ordinary occurrences. While one piece focuses on music being played too loudly, another wanders off and considers nihilistic bears. These painted tales always play out in the confines of a single room, where surreal moments are meditated upon and opinions formed. By giving phenomenal and mundane thoughts equal weight, we are offered a complete record of internal discourse.
