Biography
I would like to invite you into a world where colors and nature speak their own language. My name is Tanja Frost, and I am an artist living and creating in Slovakia. My path to art was not straightforward – I began as an aerospace design engineer, and only after moving to Europe (more than 18 years ago) did I find the courage and freedom to fully dedicate myself to painting. I honed my artistic skills at the renowned Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
In my work, I seek harmony between realistic details and impressionistic emotion – the kind that can express fleeting moments captured in nature. I have a deep respect for the power of nature, whether it’s the light reflecting on water or the silence of forest landscapes. I paint with passion and reverence, always aiming to capture not just the scenery but also the inner calm these moments bring me.
Each painting is above all an imprint of the energy I carry within – a mosaic of life experiences across different cultures, places, and inner worlds. I don’t see art as merely depicting reality but as a layered mirror of my life, dreams, and landscapes. My work often connects Eastern sensitivity, Western freedom, and a natural spirituality that transcends language and borders.
My favorite medium is oil paint. It is the only one capable of holding the energy and layering I bring into my paintings. Most of my works are created in oil because of its amazing ability to preserve colors and shades for over 70 years. I use only high-quality materials that ensure the long-lasting beauty and vibrancy of my art.
I want the viewer to take home more than just a canvas – a sense of freedom and connection with nature. I hope each painting becomes a bridge between the inner world and the outer space that surrounds us. That when looking at my work, one can pause, feel the silence, and appreciate the beauty of the moment. My wish is for my art to bring peace and inspiration, and perhaps help others find their own path to gratitude – for nature, and for their inner world.
Every painting is an opportunity to share my view of the world and bring a piece of nature into daily life. I’m grateful for the chance to create and, in doing so, make people and their homes just a little happier.
