Drawing has always been the foundation of my work, so I am naturally immersed in the mark making process and trying to push the skill level in conjunction with the limits of the medium. Progressively I am enjoying playing with the idea of allowing the image to merge with and emerge from the background.  It’s a conscious move towards a more expressive portrayal of the subject. The line becomes almost a physical wire echoing my roots as a sculptor moving over and around the form. The process is continually evolving but the subject of animals has always been a major focus of my work. My studio is surrounded by a wealth of wildlife only emerging from the background in fleeting moments, hopefully just long enough to inspire.
