Event: North York Moors Trust Art Award – Past, Present, Future
Dates: 9 Apr 2022 - 22 May 2022
Delighted that my print 'Over the Moors' has been selected for the North York Moors Art Award Exhibition 2022. It's a reduction linocut print showing a couple of birds soaring over the North York Moors looking towards Fryup near Whitby.
The 2022 North York Moors Trust Art Award is being held in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the National Park; with a theme of 'Past, present or Future' the exhibition hopes to showcase artwork that captures the striking beauty and diversity of the North York Moors. The exhibition will take place in the Inspired by... Gallery at the Moors National Park Centre in Danby, it opens on Saturday 9 April and runs until Sunday 22 May 2022.
Visitors to the Gallery can vote for a ‘Peoples Prize’, so if you do see the exhibition (and like the print), cast a vote for me!
Event: In the Open: an open art exhibition
Dates: 18 Sep 2021 - 14 Nov 2021
In the Open is part of Ryedale Folk Museum's Arts Council England funded project to understand the impact of the public health crisis on artists’ creative practice; professional, amateur and hobbying artists were invited to take part in the exhibition which explores art related to and depicting the northern landscape. The selection panel for the exhibition included photographer Joe Cornish, painter Kane Cunningham and ceramic artist Layla Khoo.
The inspiration for my 'Before Blossom' linocut print which is showing in the exhibition was a lovely bare branched Cherry Tree seen in Saltburn on one of our many 'family lockdown walks' early on in the pandemic in 2020 when travel was restricted to a limited area. It's an original multi-block linocut print, using three blocks of lino to produce the final image.

Biography
Based in the North East of England Susan Noble is a linocut printmaker whose work is rooted in the natural world, particularly the windswept coastline. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, Susan creates limited editions with relatively short runs from her home studio in Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
Susan’s images are developed from sketchbook drawings which are then transferred to iPad for further experimentation prior to moving back to the more traditional medium of lino. Susan's most recent work has included exploring the softening effects of overlaying thin Japanese printing papers and simplifying her mark making.
Susan has exhibited in the Royal Society of Marine Artists Open Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London, the Ferens Open Exhibition in Hull, New Light Prize Exhibition 'Salon de Refuses', Great Print Exhibitions at the Rheged Centre in Penrith and has work in Yorkshire Galleries - the Staithes Gallery and the 'Inspired By' Gallery at Danby.
