About Susanne Boehm

People on the street, in the media, my family, my biography - all this is my inspiration. Sometimes I am fascinated by an original pattern. I mix patterns with figures and shapes. Scenes that show everyday normality, particularly appeal to me. People like you and me are in the foreground. I am focused on the essentials, I show anonymous faces, that everyone can fill with their own memories. I see myself in the tradition mainly of the American Pop Art. I love the art of Andy Warhol, Alex Katz and David Hockney. The geometry of the hard-edge painting of Ellsworth Kelly and Frank Stella fascinates me. I also like Sarah Morris with her geometric paintings inspired by city architecture.
