Biography
I paint in oil and nearly every painting is finished on location, as I use the 'direct painting' technique of painting wet into wet. The challenge of plein air painting is to boldy record lighting effects and colour as it's observed, making every brushstroke count. This lends my paintings a sense of immediacy and an instinctive quality that I enjoy.
