About Stephen Slack

For as long as I can remember I have been passionate about art and photography.  I would spend many hours discovering ways to stretch my imagination and put it to paper and as a young boy, when I picked up my very first camera, I was hooked. Seeing the world through the lens of my camera helped me to see past the ordinary to create meaningful images of the beautiful world that we live in. 

Thankfully my passion to create what I could imagine has never left me.  These days I work in a digital space with a goal to inspire and be inspired.  In the digital workspace I am applying all that I know as an artist and illustrator and simply utilizing that skill to create digital images as I would if it were completely freehand on paper, etc.

I am a full time freelance photographer and digital artist and make my living from the work I produce.  I am fortunate to be able to travel a great deal photographing the people places and things I find along the way.  

You will almost always find photography at the base of my creations with graphic elements/digital art included when the final creation warrants it.  I am not beholden to any particular style of photography or artist style and merely use my camera as a tool to lead me in the direction of that particular moment in time.  The resulting images are sometimes complex and thought provoking but other times simple but compelling.
 
I am a lover of all things vintage always looking for ways to photograph and  enhance the image to produce more than a snapshot but to create pieces of art. Styles from the past, photographed with different points of view.   

Please feel free to contact me for inquires of other types of photography and digital art you may not always see here.  All of my images are sold unframed but I would be happy to quote for matted and framed or matted only images.  If you like an image but would prefer a larger or smaller print size, I am pleased to quote for those as well.

I am often ask about life as a digital artist....I have spent the better part of 40 years as a freehand illustrator, but have been a full time creator since 2011. Over the past 20 years I have fully embraced the digital space.  I still employ technical thinking, artistic technique and try to emulate illustration or painting in many of my art pieces.  For those images I produce as straight up photography, I am using skills that have developed since picking up my first camera over 40 years ago.

I am connected in some way to all of the images I create and it is my hope that you will find a connection to them as well.
