  • Biography

"Through the viewfinder I aim to capture fleeting, heartfelt moments that tell compelling human stories."

My photographic style  combines a variety of techniques to create images that are both  spontaneous and carefully composed. I'm inspired by balance and  poetry in my images, whether through capturing movement or dealing with the stillness of nature and the man made world.

My creative process is guided by intuition and a desire to show meaning through visual metaphor and simple observation. I'm drawn to projects that explore themes of childhood and relationships, understanding how deeply we are shaped by these formative years. Just as significantly, I am also inspired by power of Nature’s lessons for mankind. I approach each project with a blend of initial  research but ultimate improvisation, striving to capture images that

Ultimately, my goal as a photographer is to make order of the world around me and share my perspective with others. I believe that my  images can evoke powerful emotions and memories, creating  connections between viewer and subject.

Venue: NoGallery Palazzo Sforza, Pontremoli (MS), Tuscany, Italy

Lydzia and I created a show in a dilapidated Palazzo in the centre of Pontremoli. With images from the family archive hung, woven or sewn into a patchwork bedspread we wanted to give an idea of what having a large family is all about in a country with one of the lowest birth rates in the world and with a constantly declining and aging population.

    Event: Oscillazioni 2022

    Dates: 1 Aug 2022 - 10 Aug 2022

Venue: Pontremoli International Photography Festival, PONTREMOLI, ITALY, PONTREMOLI, ITALY

Event: In cerca della retta via / In search of a path

    Dates: 17 Jun 2022 - 3 Jul 2022

Venue: NoGallery Palazzo Sforza, Pontremoli (MS), Tuscany, Italy

    From the introduction:
In one way or another, we are all in search of the path that is right for us; of a way of life that allows us to feel in balance and in harmony with the people and things which surrounds us.

Like the searcher, the place itself, Lunigiana, also seeks a new way. Crossed in ancient times by the Via Francigena and now by a motorway, it remains for many a land of passage....

....The project is an mix of portraits and possible paths, to follow or leave. I wanted to meet people and hear their stories and I photographed routes to find my own path ahead. There are photographs of those who have just arrived and those who never left, of newborns and centenarians, of friends and of strangers.

There are well beaten paths and marked roads and dirt roads to the unknown; we can change direction at an intersection or we can venture and search for one.

The possibilities are endless but the way our own.
