About ESylvia

I'm a watercolor portrait artist based in the beautiful city of Maastricht, NL. My artistic journey began with creating fashion illustrations, which transitioned into beauty illustrations and portrait commissions for a few years. Currently, I focus on watercolor and gouache portraits, close-up faces, and papercut art.

I fell in love with papercutting because it transports me to another dimension when I'm completely absorbed in it. What drives me in papercutting is the search for harmonious shapes and overall balance in my artwork. I also enjoy exploring the perfect shape for a specific color, working with various colored papers. One of the aspects I love about this medium is the ability to reuse scraps of paper in my next projects and collage art, as I strive to minimize waste of paper and art materials.

Before becoming an artist, I worked as a garden designer, a passion I continue to pursue part-time. My work with plants inspires my watercolor and paper art and vice versa. 

I believe in the connection that forms between the artist and those who resonate with the art. This feeling is so profound that I cannot imagine any other path for myself.
