About Alexandra Shpitonkova

My name is Alexandra Shpitonkova, I’m 31 and I’m an artist from Moscow, Russia. I have a degree in fine arts from one of the leading art school in Russia - Surikov Art Institute. I professionaly do painting since 2015, I took part in 5 exhibitions in Moscow, also I give live classes and plain-airs. At the beginning of my career I focused on classical academic painting, using mostly oil on canvas technique. But with time I have found what inspires me most in art - these are animals, especially cats. Not only beauty and grace of living creatures, but mostly their character and emotions - that is what I strive to express in my art. I truly believe that animals are not that different form human beings in what they feel. Now there are more than 50 works with different pets, wild animals and birds in my portfolio. But cats both wild and domestic ones are my true love. Also I have two elegant Abyssinian cats, which always inspire me and give true feedback on my work. Regarding technics my heart belongs now to tempera, as I found how smooth and velvet tempera feels on a paper. I feel thrilled to apply to Artfinder as one of the top online-gallery in the world because Russian art market is still developing and I feel that especially animalistic art have much more opportunities in world-wide.
