    One of my favorite things about living/working in Brooklyn NYC is not having a car. I grew up in Texas dreaming of the day I could live some place I could walk everywhere. Subsequently I lived Santa Fe, Prague and Barcelona but eventually settled here. When you walk everywhere your experience of a place is more immediate and intimate. In Brooklyn there is ALOT of discarded materials to be had. I carry a big backpack and collect things to paint on and use in my work. This week I found 8 shelves bundled together on the sidewalk. They were the launch boards for my painting improvisations this week.
