Biography
Sergey Khachatryan, born in 1950 in the village of Zolakar in Armenia's Gegharkunik region, is a distinguished Armenian artist and poet. Khachatryan’s love for art began in his early childhood, leading him on a lifelong journey of artistic exploration. Since 1975, he has resided in Yerevan, where he has become a prominent member of the Artists’ Union of Armenia and a respected figure in the public organization “Intellectuals of Nor Nork.”
Khachatryan, also known as "Serkhach," is known for his poetic expression, having authored a poetry book titled Being's Pulse (245 pages), as well as numerous poems and stories published in Armenian literary journals such as Nork, Garun, Narcissus, and Kanch. His artworks are influenced by Armenian miniature art and his rural roots, often reflecting memories of the mountains and people of his childhood village. In each piece, one can see the authentic spirit of Armenian culture and its people, conveyed through rich colors and nostalgic themes.
Serkhach is a versatile artist, working across various genres, from rural landscapes to abstract works. His abstract creations, which he describes as a "singing of colors," are particularly notable for their spontaneity and depth, created intuitively without conscious interference. Admired by many for his honest and heartfelt approach to art, he has produced over 2,500 pieces since 2000. His works are widely appreciated in Armenian diaspora communities worldwide and are part of collections in Brussels, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, the Museum of Zoravar Andranik in Yerevan, and numerous private collections.
With more than twenty exhibitions to his name, including several international showcases, Sergey Khachatryan continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of Armenian art.
