About Sasha Podosinovik

  • Biography

My name is Sasha (Aleksandra) Podosinovik, I am a passionate independent full time artist based in St. Petersburg, Russia. I create mixed media paintings using acrylics, color pencils, gouache, oil and wax pastels and ink.

I find most of my inspiration in the streets of my stunning city, St Petersburg. I feel that the true soul of the city is in its rusty roofs and dusty back windows, the cracked plaster on the walls and patches of different non-matching colours done by the communal services to hide the cracks.

I create my artworks both on location during live sketching or painting sessions and in my studio. My main subjects are architecture, street views and urban scenes. As almost everyone else I enjoy discovering new places for myself so I find inspiration in my traveling experiences as well. But again I really like to put my attention on the “mundane” things like narrow streets of some small town along the Côte d’Azur or shabby rural houses in Russian countryside.
