About Sarah Perry

  • Biography
After a career in science spanning 30 plus years, I rediscovered my love of drawing last August when I decided to draw a horse for my brother’s birthday gift. I loved it! Growing up I loved art and as an adult went back to study it via part time Art classes and finally embarking on evening classes at Leeds college of Art and Design in Fine Art but life generally and pressures of work meant I never pursued it further. Now in my mid 50’s I feel re-born, in October 2020 I decided to draw full time, as a job and it’s the best decision I ever made. Drawing every day, discovering pastels, how they work, what surfaces I like best to draw on and producing work for my customers that really means something to them, there is no feeling like it. As well as pet portrait and wildlife commissions I produce original work in pastel. I work from reference photos selecting those I’m drawn to and which immediately make me want to draw it. It could be the eyes, the lighting or just a captured moment that makes me stop, look and decide that’s my next drawing. I discovered Artfinder online when looking for a different outlet for my my original pieces. Your website contains clear information and I think answers pretty much every question I thought about and wanted to ask. Artfinder is highly reputable and respected throughout the art world by both artists and buyers as a platform for buying and selling art.

From these shortlisted works, 2 or 3 finalists were selected. I was one of 2 finalists selected for the Pet Portrait category and was awarded 2nd place.
Unfortunately a gallery exhibition was not able to go ahead by The Artist Lounge so an online Exhibiton of finalists is available in the link above.
