About Sarah Eden

I am an oil painter specialising in realist portraits of animals. I have always been compelled to paint living beings, primarily because I get so excited about the possibility of bringing something to life on the canvas. Fortunately, others have also been drawn to my work so I now enjoy painting portrait commissions full time, primarily of dogs and horses, but also of children, families and other animals.  My principle aim is to create a painting that not only replicates the appearance of the subject but in some way communicates the personality too. Paintings can be flat and lifeless unless they are successful in incorporating this secondary dimension. For me, painting is an absolute passion. I am always learning.
